Welcome & Thank You

Ken Richards, President USA Dance, Inc.

Dear Athletes, Fans, Sponsors, Officials, Coaches, Parents, Social Dancers, Vendors, and Fellow Volunteers:

On behalf of the USA Dance Board of Directors and the Ballroom DanceSport Council, I extend a warm invitation to join us at the 2022 USA Dance National Ballroom DanceSport Championships.  At this event you will observe America’s best athletes competing to become crowned the National Champions of their divisions.  This is also the National DanceSport event that determines which athletes will represent the United States at upcoming World DanceSport Federation’s (WDSF) World Championships and Cups.

This 2022 event marks the return to a unified National Championship event, with athletes from all age divisions.  We are also pleased that, for the first time in many years, the Collegiate Nationals will be joining together with us for a 3-day festival of dance, all under one roof.  Our host city of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, is no stranger to a championship-level competition wrapped in fun.  And this event will be no different, with a host of workshops and social dance opportunities offered as part of the mix.

Please visit the informative pages of this dedicated website to learn more.  Register for the competitionpurchase tickets, and connect with the Wyndham Grand for your reservations.  Whether you are competing in one event or in a multitude of styles and divisions, or just watching, we hope you can stay for the entire three days.

In closing, I wish to offer a special thank you to a few key members of the Nationals Planning and Organizing Committee: Chairperson Ann Durocher, Webmaster Myra Coffield; and Nationals Registrar Sterling Sightler. These ladies have logged countless hours making this event special for all who attend.

Ann Durocher, National Ballroom Championships Chair

Dear All:

As Organizing Chairperson and on behalf of our enthusiastic planning team, I want to give a shout out to the Pittsburgh Chapter, led by President Jane Downing.  Many chapter members have stepped up to volunteer for critical positions, insuring a smooth flow of the weekend events.  In addition, the chapter plans to host a social dance on Friday, April 1.  Please take time to thank these volunteers, as they are excited to have the 2022 USA Dance National Ballroom DanceSport Championships in their interesting city and they hope that you will enjoy your stay.

In addition, I want to thank team member Daniel O’Connell for his fresh ideas and help with combining collegiate and amateur events, as well as their differing expectations.  Daniel makes work fun!

We are happy to have both Professional and Pro-Am national events on the 2022 schedule and with all of the various planned events, spectators will have a real treat!
